Welsh Marches Tour May 2024

Our tour began at The Riverside Inn, Aymestrey, Near Leominster on 14th May 2024 with coffee and a bacon bap and travelled through the Black & White Villages of North Herefordshire with a coffee stop at Weobley a particularly pretty village ending at Hampton Court Castle for lunch in the Orangery. This was followed by a guided tour of the castle given by the Castle's Senior Guide. 

The Black & White houses are a stunning sight and mostly date from the 15th & 16th centuries, they were built from a frame of green oak infilled with lath and plaster. Originally the houses were painted with earthly colours but more latterly it has become fashionable to paint the oak frames black and the infill white.

The castle dates from 1434 and has been extensively extended over time, it is now a very up-market wedding venue,

A total of 12 cars took place predominantly 20hp's including one Silver Ghost.
