Missillac - JUNE 2022
June 2022 rally to the Domaine de la Bretesche, France
The shadow of covid still hung over the UK, especially among the older generation (ie typical members of the RREC), who might well have to consider other vulnerable persons in the family. Therefore participant numbers were down compared with previous Continental rallies, 26 cars – 52 persons compared with typically 70 persons. We returned, for nine nights, to the Domaine de la Bretesche where we previously stayed in 2017.
After showing our QR Codes at the ferry check-in, to prove our vaccination status, we were allowed to embark (soon after the rally France rescinded the QR Code requirement). Thereafter all went well. Not a single problem with any the 20hps.
We were lucky in that Pascal Bego, 20hp owner and member of the 20Gost Club as well as the RREC, lives nearby, and Pascal arranged three particularly interesting visits for us. First was to Château du Brossay, owned by the Tattinger Champagne family, for a Champagne Reception inside the château, followed by a full lunch party in a marquee outside. He also invited all the local RR owners, and we had a great combined party (52 rally members plus 16 “locals”). The family, represented by Corentine du Halgouet, supplied a fantastic RR decorated cake, and helium balloons.
Secondly, Pascal organised a visit to Château la Haute-Touche where we took our own picnic lunch to eat in the gardens. The owner, Tanneguy de Givré, has a collection of classic cars, including a Rolls-Royce and a Bentley.
Thirdly, Pascal organized a gourmet fish luncheon party at a restaurant on the Golfe du Morbihan, followed by a boat trip on the beautiful Golfe.
