Sudhir Choudhrie

1923 Barker barrel-bodied tourer 66H3

Sudhir Choudrie lives in London but his two cars are in New Delhi looked after by Julia Williamson. His other car is a P II a 1930 yellow/black Limousine 121GY

Julia Williamson added:-

Unfortunately 66H3 and 121GY are driven only occasionally due to a government ban on the use of polluting vehicles apart from rallies and a bit of testing. 66H3 still with the original Barker barrel tourer coachwork was first owned by Maharaja of Bharatpur then went to Maharaja of Udaipur. It was purchased by Sudhir Choudrie from Golam Momen in Kolkata circa 1995. The restoration was completed in 2002. I do the mechanical work and the body was restored by Mr Choudrie's team under my supervision. There is an early photo of the car in John Fasal's book on the Twenty, page 407.

121GY still has its Hooper limousine coachwork, was also owned by the Maharaja of Bharatpur who presented it to Professor Unithan, Vice Chancellor of Rajasthan University in Jaipur from whom it was purchased in 1986. I drove the car in the film "Queenie" filmed in Jaipur in 1986 shortly before its purchase.

John Fasal Added:-

I recognise the yellow Phantom II (212GY) Hooper limousine from the time I spent with H.H. the Maharaja of Bharatpur who used it for shikari (hunting) purposes. It was dark green with black wings. The first Indian owner of this car was the distinguished Parsee banking family of Sir Cowasji Jehangir Readymoney, 2nd Baronet.
