Richard Prideaux-Brune
1927 William Arnold two-seater GHJ2
The car has had a very sheltered existence with no mention of it in any RREC Bulletins although it has been mentioned on a couple of occasions in old 20-Ghost Club Records.
The sales card states that the original owner was Mrs Sabina Alker of Stocks House, Carrington Road, Flixton, Cheshire. The card records the car as off test on 26th January 1927 and was sold to Joseph Cockshoot of Manchester for bodying by William Arnold.
On the other hand, Richard Prideaux-Brune the current owner states that his car was originally owned by Sir Philip Grey-Egerton from Alton Park. He had it from new; both his sons were killed in WW1 and therefore Richard's grandmother Cecily Prideaux-Brune (nee Grey-Egerton)owned the car. It passed down to Richard's father who in turn gave it to Richard when he was 17 as he was unable to drive it himself having lost his leg in WW11. Richard has owned it ever since.
John Fasal has a postcard posted in Chester in 1935 which apparently shows GHJ2 in a parade in Bridge Street (third car from left).
