Michael Sapsford

1923 Hooper Landaulette GA11

Michael bought this car in 1957 for £90 including a new hood and battery. It has had some 20 owners over the years with the pedal rubbers worn through to the metal. The Autocar picture says that the car was supplied by Rootes to a Hastings motorist, in fact it was a butcher from Bexhill. The Hooper body is still very sound but mechanically it is a little noisy, however it performs particularly well for a 20hp. The two wheel brakes seem to cope quite adequately with modern traffic if the driver concentrates!

According to the 20hp Newsletter number 9 of July 1999 GA11 was entered in Class V1 cars at Blenheim on Sunday June 3rd 1962, not long after Michael bought the car.
