1927 Cockshoot Saloon GRJ52

This Cockshoot Saloon is believed to be the only six-light saloon bodied by Cockshoot incorporating a Barker headlight dipping system.

Supplied in November 1927 to Mr Albert Hartley as a rare owner/driver saloon it features a totally unobtrusive yet unique and original easy to remove nearside centre post, in addition the passenger seat tips forward. This is believed to be to facilitate access for a disabled Mr Hartley who kept the car until 1932 when it passed to Dr A K Miller relocating from Lancashire to Cheshire. A further 28 years later it passed to Mr D. E. Balfour in 1960 and later exported to the USA by Mr Richard Lisenby of Washington in 1979. It returned to the UK in the late 1980's when it was re-imported by Mr David Rowe and then purchased by Mr  Robert James of Llanfyllin. At this time a top end engine rebuild was undertaken with the bottom end being observed to needing no work at that time. In March 1991 it was sold by Sotherby's to Orchid Cars, (Mr Andrew Booth), and then sold on to Mr Clive Sherwood who retained it until 1999. Since February 1999 the car has been owned by Mr Maurice G Galliers who bought it from Jeremy Wade, a well known car dealer in Shropshire.

Mr Galliers undertook a very extensive and expensive programme of refurbishment both to the body and to the interior and the whole car still oozes a patina commensurate with the quality of that work. It is truly delightful.

As of Mid-February 2024 the car is again owned by Mr Jeremy Wade, it is again for sale and can be found on the web site of Leavanhalls Classic & Prestige.
