Iain Sutherland
1928 Originally a Park Ward Saloon re-bodied as a Shooting Brake GTM33
Iain purchased GTM33 in 1983 from Mr Robert (Bert) Gunn of Lybster, Caithness, Scotland near to where Ian lives. Prior to Mr Gunn's ownership the car was owned by Mr Lindsay Moir Scott of Rosemount, Blairgowrie who purchased it on 9th January 1954, both long term owners of GTM33. The history of GTM33 prior to 1954 is unknown.
GTM33 is very similar to the one owned by the RREC, GHJ15 which was believed to have been re-bodied by A.R. McLeod & Son of Helmsdale, near to where Iain lives. Although there is no specific evidence to show who re-bodied GTM33 it is believed that the same A.R. McLeod & Son of Helmsdale which is only 12 miles from Iain's home, did the work especially bearing mind its similarity to GHJ15 and that it has spent the last 70 or so years in Scotland.
It retains its original registration number XV4250. An unusual feature of the Shooting Brake is that it has only one offside door and two nearside doors which perhaps was something to do with taxation at the time.
In the early years of Iain's ownership the car was extensively used for car shows and rallies with the most epic being in 1984 when he and his late wife, Elizabeth and 13 years old daughter Donna embarked on a trip from John O' Groats to Lands End and back via Silverstone where they did a lap of honour around the circuit.
Due to Iain's advancing years the car is currently for sale, as at 4.11.24
