George Simpson

1926 Barker Coupe/Cabriolet GUK33

This car was built to a unique specification for a very wealthy young American woman, Annabel Adora Belita Maria Kruse. She had a townhouse in Mayfair (next door to Lord Mountbatten), the huge Sunning House in Sunningdale with 23 servants and 3 chauffeurs, another mansion on Egham Hill, 50 acres and a lake and a sporting estate in Yorkshire with a private golf course. She also rented a permanent suite at Claridge's in case she wanted to shop in London.

From 1924 to 1937 she and her husband Jack Fredrick Conrad Kruse bought 47 new cars: 20 Rolls Royces, 4 Bentleys, 8 Alfa Romeos, 2 Bugattis, 6 Lancias, 2 SSK Mercedes, 1 Invicta and 4 American cars.

The white steering wheel and control knobs, Karl Zeiss lamps, ship type ventilators, long mudguards and the marquetry inlay in the interior are just some of the unusual features of this car.
