Gary Crisp

1928 Knibb & Parkyn Sedanca later re-bodied by Kitchner & Woodiwiess as a 4 door tourer GBM10

Registration YX1133

GBM10 was purchased by Gary Crisp in 2020 in Sweden. It has been needing a lot of TLC as described by Gary below. Gary also owns a 20/25 4 door saloon GZU35. There is a fine photograph of GBM10 when new in John Fasal's book, page 354.

I've been doing the detective bit and it seems the original owner was a doctor, Geoffrey Duckworth, living near Wimbledon Common, he bought the car through The Car Mart. Successive owners were also medical and seem to have prematurely short lives including one who perished when his ship hit a mine off the coast of north Africa during WW2. A later owner Henri Marcotty sounded Italian but was actually a Belgian opera singer living north of Wimbledon Common. Sometime before 1971 the original Knibb & Parkyn body was rebuilt as a 4-door tourer by KW (Kitchner & Woodiwiess) of Blackpool. By 1971 the car was in Sweden and appeared in Bulletin 242 in the hands of a journalist. It then passed to Hans Thulin who became a notorious financial criminal resulting in the car being auctioned off. The last Swedish owner was bicycle impresario Mr Grimaldi who sold it in 2020 via Rohdins Classic Cars.

GBM10 is being serviced and made usable by myself. Despite having a new fuel tank, the remainder of the fuel system was completely clogged with rust - even the pipes. It is now running, after some upholstery repairs, an ignition service and a wobbly gear lever fixed.
